Pledge to buy an In-N-Out gift card if they stop using plastic straws

Back this campaign

All-or-Nothing: In-N-Out will only receive these pledges if they make the change.

  • To: Lynsi Snyder, President and Owner of In-N-Out Burger

Like so many Californians, the 6th-grade students at Stevenson School love In-N-Out. They love your company's focus on fresh food but the environmental impact they see at their neighborhood beach is not so fresh.

That’s why the students made these videos asking In-N-Out to ditch plastic straws for compostable paper straws.

    Stevenson 6th Graders

We use and discard over 500,000,000 plastic straws daily in the United States. That's enough straws to fill Yankee Stadium over 9 times a year. Straws are in the top 5 list of litter found on International Coastal Cleanup Day.

Plastic does not decompose. They turn into smaller pieces that end up ingested by marine and land animals and into our food supply. It’s enough to make me lose my appetite.

As President of In-N-Out Burger, you can commit to swap plastic straws at your restaurants for compostable paper straws. With over 300 stores in 6 states, In-N-Out taking this simple action can make a big difference to our oceans and marine life.

By backing this campaign, I want you to know that I am a proud In-N-Out customer that supports you in making this change.

I am joining the Stevenson School 6th graders, The Last Plastic Straw, and Plastic Pollution Coalition in pledging to dine at In-N-Out when the plastic straws are replaced. If we get enough pledges, In-N-Out will see the widespread customer support for this change and act.

We hope that you will embrace this opportunity to be a leader in creating healthy change in our community, your organization, and ultimately our global environment. You can inspire others with your responsible leadership ensuring the health of our planet for generations to come.

If you commit to replace the plastic straws with compostable paper straws, I shall happily commit to buy an In-N-Out gift card for a great meal while saving the planet, one sip at a time!
